Aberrations of DNA methylation in cancer

نویسندگان

چکیده

DNA methylation is a chromatin modification that plays an important role in the epigenetic regulation of gene expression. Changes patterns are characteristic many malignant neoplasms. occurred by methyltransferases (DNMTs), while demethylation mediated TET family proteins. Mutations and changes expression profile these enzymes lead to hypo- hypermethylation have strong impact on carcinogenesis. In this review, we considered key aspects mechanisms demethylation, also analyzed proteins pathogenesis various neoplasms.During preparation used following biomedical literature information bases: Scopus (504), PubMed (553), Web Science (1568), eLibrary (190). DNA Methylation and Its Role in the Development of Leukemia

Epigenetic changes play an essential role in cancer pathogenesis. It has been established by next-generation sequencing that more than 50% of the human cancers carry mutations in mechanisms involved in the organization of the chromatin and epigenetic regulations. DNA methylation is among the most common epigenetic changes in leukemia. In contrast to DNA mutations which are passively inherited f...

DNA methylation of tumor suppressor genes in hepatocellular carcinoma

The basic unit of chromatin is a nucleosome included an octamer of the four core histones and 147 base pairs of DNA. Posttranslational histones modifications affect chromatin structure resulting in gene expression changes. CpG islands hypermethylation within the gene promoter regions and the deacetylation of histone proteins are the most common epigenetic modifications. The aberrant patterns of...

The role and importance of DNA methylation in spermatogenesis process

Background: DNA methylation is one of the epigenetic marks that are created by de novo DNA methylation and be maintained through cell division. This process is catalyzed by DNA methyltransferases. DNA methylation establishment in germ line is important, since they have the potential to regulate gene expression in offspring and improper DNA methylation patterns in germ lines has serious conseque...

DNA methylation and cancer.

DNA methylation is an important regulator of gene transcription, and its role in carcinogenesis has been a topic of considerable interest in the last few years. Alterations in DNA methylation are common in a variety of tumors as well as in development. Of all epigenetic modifications, hypermethylation, which represses transcription of the promoter regions of tumor suppressor genes leading to ge...
